Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Finishes Regular Season 23-2

FREDONIA, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men's Basketball team defeated the Fredonia Blue Devils in a game that saw Jeremiah Sparks cap off an incredible year with a 26-point double-double.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 85 (23-2, SUNYAC 17-1), Fredonia 75 (2-23, SUNYAC 2-16)

Location: Dobbs Hall, Fredonia, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first half was not going the Lakers way as the Blue Devils had a nine point lead halfway through the 1st stanza. However, the Lakers held a 44-40 lead going into the break.

  • Cartier Bowman and Jeremiah Sparks both had 10 points in the first half, and Kaleb Cook scored nine points.

  • The difference in the first half was three point shooting. Oswego went an uncharacteristic 1-of-8 from three point range, and Fredonia shot 8-of-9.

  • Jeremiah Sparks stood out in the first ten minutes of the second half, guiding the Lakers to a slightly bigger 65-57 lead. However, Fredonia's three-point shooting continued to be a problem for Oswego.

  • Sparks continued his dominant scoring play in the late stages of the second half. This included him scoring seven points in rapid succession, including a three pointer with around seven minutes to go.

  • Ahkee Anderson also hit a jumper to balloon the lead to 12.

  • Kaleb Cook scored four points down the stretch to continue the growth of the lead.

  • Despite the accurate shooting of the Blue Devils, Oswego was better in almost all other facets of the game. Oswego shot over 50% from the field, and that was the main separator in the game.

  • Sparks capped off an impressive second half performance with a layup in the final minute. His 26-point double-double sealed the Oswego 85-70 victory.

  • Kaleb Cook, Ahkee Anderson, and Cartier Bowman also scored in double-figures.
