Coyle, Men's 400 Runners Lead at SUNYAC's

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Sophomore Faith Coyle and the men's middle distance runners lead the way in scoring for the Oswego State Track & Field teams at the 2023 SUNYAC Indoor Championship.  The men finished in eighth and the women ninth as the top performers will be considered for Regionals prior to the outdoor season.

THE BASICS
  • Final Scores:  Oswego Men: 7 Points (8 of 9); Oswego Women: 3 Points (9 of 9)
  • Location: Special Events Recreation Center, Brockport, N.Y.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Men's Team
  • Junior Aidan Harrington added the first team points with his seventh-place finish in the men's 400-meter dash.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Harrington, senior Chris Dorney, junior Matthew Broadnax, and freshman Daniel Mars finished in fourth place, narrowly missing All-Conference honors, to score for the Lakers.
  • Senior Nathan Couse finished thirteenth in the men's mile run.
  • In field action, senior Michael Saavedra finished eleventh in the shot put with a throw of 12.42 meters.
  • Sophomore Alexander Kline earned seventeenth in both the shot put (10.22 meters) and the weight throw (10.91 meters).
Women's Team
  • Coyle led the scoring for the women with a sixth in the women's 800-meter run.
  • Her time of 2:19.75 was good enough to compete at Regionals.
  • Junior Ellie Decker and freshman Cristina Gaskievicz finished twelfth and fourteenth, respectively, in the women's 3,000-meter run.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Coyle, Gretchen Dowd, Julia Weaver and Jackie Janicki ran a time of 4:43.55.
  • Senior Abigail Conpropst finished seventeenth in the weight throw and twentieth in the shot put in field action.

The All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Indoor Championships will take place in NYC at the Armory from March 3-4.
