OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Basketball team hosted New Paltz this afternoon for their second match up of the season. The Hawk's defense proved to be too much for the Lakers, as the Lakers struggled to connect on their field goal attempts, shooting just 34% from the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After one quarter of play, the Lakers found themselves down 15 points to the Hawks, trailing 24-9. The Lakers shot 40% from the field, 50% from the arc with Logan Castiglione scoring five points for Oswego in the first.

After two, the Lakers would trail by 28. Leading the Lakers at the half in points was Castiglione with five points, Giavanna White-Principio added four points for Oswego. Shania Iglesias and White-Principio led Oswego in rebounds, with three each.

After three, the Hawks would extend their lead over the Lakers. Oswego would trail by 39 points.

The Lakers refused to give up, putting up a resilient effort all the way through the final whistle. Oswego outscored New Paltz 22-9 in the final quarter.

Logan Castiglione led Oswego with nine points, Caitie Lilly and Peyton Daeffler each added eight points. Elaina Johnson led the Lakers with six rebounds. Shania Iglesias led Oswego with three assists.

The Lakers will stay home and take on the Oneonta Red Dragons tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, February 4th. The tip-off against Oneonta is scheduled for 2pm.
