Lakers Use Dominant Second and Third Periods to Fly By Golden Eagles

BROCKPORT, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men's Hockey team defeated the Brockport Golden Eagles by a score of 4-1. After a close start, the Lakers exerted their dominance over the final 40 minutes to take the win.

Final Score: Oswego State 4 (13-8-1, 9-4 SUNYAC), Brockport 1 (8-14, 3-10 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  •  Oswego had an early chance in the first period, and the puck found the back of the net, but the officials quickly waved off the goal, citing goaltender interference.

  • After a back and forth first 20 minutes, both teams went to the locker room still knotted at zero. Oswego would start the second period with 1:20 left on their penalty kill.

  • With 10:49 remaining in the second period, Noah Bull scored off an assist from Trent Grimshaw to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead.

  • A few minutes later, Jackson Arcan scored to extend the lead to 2-0. He was assisted by Tommy Cahill.

  • The Golden Eagles scored to bring the deficit to one with just over a minute remaining in the second period.

  • Alex Dicarlo scored with 14:14 left in the third period off an assist from Daniel Colabufo to grow the lead to 3-1.

  • With just under three minutes remaining, Quinn Warmuth scored off an assist from Shane Bull to make it a 4-1 lead.

  • The Lakers hung on over the final three minutes to take the win.

  • Cal Schell had 31 saves in the game.

  • With a Plattsburgh loss to Buffalo State this evening, the Lakers sit just one point behind first place in the conference with 20.0 points. Geneseo is also knocking on the doorstep with 19.0 points total. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The men will travel to Morrisville on Wednesday, February 8 for a matchup with the Mustangs.
