Arcan Scores Twice En Route to 6-0 Victory Over Mustangs

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men's Hockey team faced off against the Morrisville State College Mustangs this evening. The men were able to get their revenge after falling at home to the Mustangs back in December, handing the Mustangs a 6-0 blank in their own rink.

Final Score: Oswego State 6 (14-8-1, 10-4 SUNYAC), Morrisville 0 (7-15-0, 3-10-0 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Tommy Cahill scored first for the Lakers with 8:32 remaining in the first period, making that seven goals on the season for Cahill. 

  • The defense held the Mustangs in check in the first period, allowing only seven shots on goal, all of which were saved by Cal Schell. The Lakers took a 1-0 lead going into the second period. 

  • Shane Bull scored the second goal for the Lakers, with 10:12 remaining in the second period. Bull was assisted by Alex DiCarlo

  • Jackson Arcan gave the Lakers a 3-0 lead shortly after Bull's goal. Arcan scored with 7:48 remaining in the second period.

  • Alex DiCarlo scored the fourth goal of the night for the Lakers with 3:25 remaining in the second period. DiCarlo was assisted by Connor Gatto and Ryan Bunka.

  • The Lakers led the Mustangs by four heading into the final period. Cal Schell recorded eight more saves in the second period. 

  • Just under four minutes into the final period, Connor Gatto gave the Lakers a five goal lead over the Mustangs. Gatto was assisted by Alex DiCarlo and Shane Bull.

  • Late in the third, the Lakers received a power play with just over five minutes remaining in the contest. Jackson Arcan scored his second goal of the night on the power play, as the Lakers took a 6-0 lead. Arcan was assisted by Ben Addison and Shane Bull.

  • Oswego blanked the Mustangs as they put up six goals on the evening. Cal Schell added 11 more saves in the third period, bringing his total on the night to 26. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The men will return home and face off against the Buffalo State Bengals on Friday, February 17th. The puck drop is scheduled for 7pm in the Deb.
