OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Hockey team faced off against the Buffalo State Bengals this evening. The men dominated the Bengals behind a hat trick from Trent Grimshaw.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers were able to get on the board first despite suffering two early penalties. Scoring for Oswego seven and a half minutes in was Trent Grimshaw. Grimshaw was assisted by Tyler Flack and Connor Sleeth.

The Bengals would respond with a goal of their own just one minute later, tying the match at one.

Oswego took the lead back with a goal coming in with just under six minutes left in the first period. Ryan Bunka scored the second goal for the Lakers. Troy Robillard and Rocco Andreacchi added assists on the second goal.

Buffalo State responded again with a goal just over a minute later, tying the game at two.

Cal Schell recorded 16 saves in the first period of play, as the Lakers remained tied with the Bengals going into the second period.

Ryan Dickinson got the lead for the Lakers, scoring the first goal of the second period with just three and a half minutes left in the period. Oswego would lead 3-2. Andreacchi added his second assist on the night and Shane Bull added a point as well.

The Lakers would take a two puck lead with just 36 seconds remaining in the period. Connor Gatto scored the goal for the Lakers, assisted by Rocco Andreacchi, his third and Shane Bull, his second.

Oswego led the Bengals by two going into the final period. Schell recorded six more saves in the period, giving him 22 through two.

Shane Bull scored the fifth goal of the evening for the Lakers, just under seven minutes into the final period, Bull was assisted by Ryan Dickinson.

Trent Grimshaw scored his second goal of the evening with five minutes left in the third period. Tyler Flack and Quinn Warmuth assisted Grimshaw on the goal. Oswego would lead 6-2.

Just 30 seconds later, Buffalo State would cut the deficit to three, scoring their third goal of the evening.

Buffalo State pulled their goalie to give them a six on five advantage, which backfired on them as Trent Grimshaw completed the hat trick with a goal on the empty net. The Lakers would lead 7-3.

Oswego would hold on and take the four-goal victory over the Bengals. Cal Schell finished with 26 saves on the evening.
WHAT'S NEXT
The men will return home and face off against the Fredonia Blue Devils tomorrow evening. The Lakers will be honoring their seniors at the game, which is set to start at 7pm. Come out and show your support to those who are graduating!
