OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Lacrosse team returned home this afternoon to take on Grove City College. The girls jumped out to an early lead and never let the Wolverines back in the game. Sela Wiley led the way for the Lakers, accounting for ten of the Lakers points, with four goals and six assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter started off slow for both teams, with the Lakers having several shot attempts in the first seven minutes, with no goals.

Madison Davis scored the first two goals of the afternoon, just 45 seconds apart, which sparked the Laker offense, leading to several other goals in the first. Davis was assisted by Sela Wiley on her first goal (7:29), then Isabella Lembo on the second (6:24).

In the final six and a half minutes of play, Oswego would score six times, giving them a commanding eight goal lead going into the second quarter. Davis added another goal, Julia Quirk added two goals, Isabella Lembo, Sela Wiley, and Alexis Hill each added one.

The Ladies added three more goals in the second before the Wolverines would score their first goal of the afternoon. Noelle Smith scored the first goal of the quarter, and Sela Wiley added the next two goals for the Lakers.

When Grove City recorded their first goal, the Lakers led 11-1 with 5:15 remaining in the first half of play.

Katie Fierro recorded a goal for the Lakers with 2:52 remaining in the second, and Wiley scored her third goal of the quarter with just eight seconds remaining in the half. Oswego led the Wolverines by 12 going into the third quarter.

To start the third quarter, the Lakers added three goals in the first five minutes of play, which led to two goals by the Wolverines. The Lakers led by 13 with 4:29 remaining in the third.

Oswego added two more goals before the end of the quarter, giving them a 15 point lead over Grove City.

In the final quarter, both teams would score one goal, and the Lakers would defeat the Wolverines by a score of 19-4. Ava Tulimiero added the final goal for the Lakers with just 36 seconds remaining in the game.

During the Lakers offensive onslaught of the Wolverines, nine different Lakers were able to record a goal.

Four Lakers recorded hat tricks this afternoon, tallying 14 goals between the four of them. Sela Wiley and Madison Davis each had four goals, with Isabella Lembo and Julia Quirk adding three each.

The Laker defense was swarming the Wolverines all afternoon, allowing them to get just nine shots off throughout the match, forcing 24 turnovers.

Madison Davis and Sela Wiley currently lead the SUNYAC in assists, Davis with 14, Wiley with 12.

Sarah Kamide leads all SUNYAC goalkeepers with an outstanding 54.4% save percentage so far on the season. Kamide also has allowed the fewest goals per game among SUNYAC goalkeepers, allowing just 6.39 goals per game.
WHAT'S NEXT
The women will remain at home to take on the Nazareth Golden Flyers for their next matchup. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22nd, set to begin at 4pm.
