OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Lacrosse team hosted New Paltz this afternoon. The women were able to come back from behind in the second half and stun the Hawks with the help of a second half shutout by Sarah Kamide and eight second half goals being scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers recorded the first goal of the afternoon, just four minutes into play. Kate McNally scored the first goal for Oswego with an assist from Sela Wiley.

Oswego held their lead for five and a half minutes before the Hawks scored their first goal of the contest with six minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Less than two minutes later, the Hawks would score another goal while up a girl and give them a 2-1 lead over Oswego.

Julia Quirk quickly responded with a free-position goal, tying the match at two. The score would remain tied going into the second quarter.

The Hawks would jump out to a two point lead over the Lakers in the first four minutes of the second quarter.

The Hawks extended their lead to three with 5:55 remaining in the first half of play.

With 4:21 remaining in the half, Wiley would score and cut the Lakers deficit back to two with an assist from Katie Fierro. The score would remain 5-3 at the half, with the Lakers trailing.

Isabella Lembo began the offensive rout in the second half with a free-position goal just three minutes into the second half.

Shae McConnell recorded three goals in the third quarter of play, the first tying the match at five. Two of McConnell's goals were free-position goals.

Quirk added another goal in the third quarter, which also was a free-position goal.

The Lakers led 8-5 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Five minutes into the fourth, Wiley extended the Lakers lead to four with an assist from McNally.

Quirk recorded her hat trick with 5:04 remaining in the game, with an assist going to Fierro.

McConnell added her fourth and final goal of the contest with her third free-position goal of the game. McConnell scored with just 25 seconds remaining in the match.

McConnell led the Lakers this afternoon with four goals, with Quirk adding three goals.

Sarah Kamide finished with four saves this afternoon.

The Laker defense caused 15 turnovers for the Hawks, with New Paltz finishing with 24 turnovers.
