UTICA, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Utica this afternoon to take on the Pioneers. The Women grabbed their second win of the season, handing Utica their first loss of their season. Isabella Lembo continued her offensive hot streak, securing her second consecutive game with a hat trick.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers got off to a hot start in the first quarter, netting three goals in the first ten minutes of play. Isabella Lembo scored the first goal of the game with 11:24 remaining in the first quarter, Lembo was unassisted on her goal.

Just a minute later, Utica would net a goal of their own and tie the game at one.

Sela Wiley scored the second goal of the quarter for the Lakers, coming with 8:40 remaining in the first.

The Pioneers refused to back down from the Lakers, scoring another goal with 7:35 remaining in the first, tying the Lakers at two.

Lembo scored her second goal of the game with 5:58 remaining, and would be unassisted on the goal. The Lakers held on and took the 3-2 lead into the second quarter.

Five minutes into the second quarter, the Pioneers tied the game at three.

Lembo recorded her hat trick with 8:11 left in the second quarter, receiving the pass from Madison Davis, who was credited with the assist.

Sela Wiley got her second goal of the game with just 20 seconds left before the half. WIley gave the Lakers a two point lead going into the half, leading 5-3 over the Pioneers.

Utica scored the lone goal of the third quarter, cutting their deficit to just one.

Early in the fourth, Shae McConnell extended the Lakers lead back to two with an unassisted goal of her own.

Utica scored a goal with 2:37 remaining, but the Laker defense proved to be too much for the Pioneers as Oswego left Utica with a 6-5 victory over the Pioneers.

The women will travel to Morrisville State College on Thursday, March 9th to take on the Mustangs. The contest is set to begin at 5pm.
