Matthew Rawlins Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Athletics Department is excited to announce Matthew Rawlins, DAT, ATC, CSCS, NASM-CES as our new Assistant Athletic Trainer. Rawlins comes to us from the University of Rochester Medical Center where he served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Oakfield-Alabama Middle and High School. 

 Head Athletic Trainer Kevin Joyce went on to say; "We are happy to have Matt join our staff. He brings a level of experience, professionalism and maturity that will help our student-athletes develop and add to our already strong department."

Rawlins has extensive experience as an Athletic Trainer, with ten years of experience in the field. The Oswego State Athletics Department is excited to have Matthew join the team and provide his expertise as an Athletic Trainer to our student athletes. 

At Oakfield, Rawlins was responsible for all varsity, JV and modified sports, including football, girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, girls volleyball, cross country, track and field, baseball and softball. 

Rawlins earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Athletic Training in May of 2012 at Longwood University in Farmville, Va. 

From here, Rawlins continued his education at West Virginia Wesleyan College where he earned his Masters in Science for Athletic Training in June of 2013 with a perfect 4.0 GPA. 

The King George, Va native went on to earn his Doctoral degree in Athletic Training at Moravian College in December of 2020. 

"I am excited to transition into the collegiate setting and join an experienced staff that I look forward to learning from as well as contributing to in order to serve the student-athletes here at Oswego State" Rawlins said.
