OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Lacrosse team hosted Plattsburgh this afternoon at Laker Turf Stadium. Following a close first half of play, the Lakers closed out the Cardinals in the second half, winning their third game in a row. Three Lakers recorded a hat trick this afternoon, with Sela Wiley leading the way yet again, with five goals this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers jumped out to a three goal lead in the first eight minutes of play. Scoring for Oswego was Madison Davis, twice, and Sela Wiley.

A few minutes later, the Cardinals scored their first goal of the match, with 4:17 remaining in quarter one.

A penalty by Plattsburgh set Sela Wiley up to score her second goal of the game less than 30 seconds later.

The Cardinals got one last score to end the quarter, leaving only one second on the clock. Oswego would take a 4-2 lead going into quarter two.

Plattsburgh made it a one goal game less than a minute into the second quarter.

Five minutes later, Oswego added back-to-back goals to bring their lead back to three. Wiley recorded her hat trick with 9:08 left in the second, and Julia Quirk scored her first goal with 8:28 remaining.

Oswego could not pull away from Plattsburgh, as they scored two more goals before the end of the quarter.

However, in the final two minutes, the Lakers were able to match the Cardinals goals and take a three goal lead into halftime. Isabella Lembo scored two straight goals for the Lakers, making the score 8-5.

The Lakers extended their lead to four early in the third, with a goal by Shae McConnell with 11:35 remaining.

Plattsburgh would respond with a goal of their own two minutes later, which ended up being the final goal for the Cardinals.

Oswego's offense was in full throttle for the remainder of the game, scoring three more goals in the third quarter. Wiley added her fourth goal with 5:56 remaining, and Lembo recorded her third and fourth goals of the game.

Oswego led 12-6 going into the final quarter.

The Lakers added five more goals in the fourth quarter to put away the Cardinals. Scoring in the fourth for Oswego was Quirk, Madison Davis, Kate McNally, Wiley, and Alexis Hill.

Oswego defeated Plattsburgh by a score of 17-6.

Sarah Kamide recorded 12 saves this afternoon in net, getting the win in goal.

Sela Wiley led the Lakers in goals and points, scoring five goals, totaling for ten points on the day.

The Lakers will head out west for a matchup against Buffalo State, set to take place on Wednesday, April 19th. The game is scheduled for 4pm.
