OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego State Baseball team finished off their weekend series with the Oneonta Red Dragons this afternoon. Oswego's late rally fell just short, dropping their second game to the Red Dragons this weekend, going 1-2 in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oneonta got on the board early in the first inning, but Oswego held them to just one run.

The Red Dragons extended their lead to four in the third inning, scoring three runs in the top of the third.

Oswego and Oneonta exchanged pairs of runs in the fourth inning, making the score 6-2.

The Lakers were set up with bases loaded following a pair of walks by Oneonta. They then walked Sam Allen, which advanced CJ McCarthy for the first run of the game for Oswego.

Julian Drew then grounded out to the third baseman, bringing in Frank Levanti for the final run of the inning. Oswego trailed 6-2 through four innings of play.

Oneonta wasn't letting go though, tacking on another pair of runs in the next inning, making the score 8-2.

Oswego responded with a solid three run inning, drawing them closer to the Red Dragons.

Oneonta walked three straight pitchers to set the Lakers up with bases loaded, and no outs.

Greg Carullo brought in Jacob Levine with a sacrifice fly out to right field. Julian Drew was then hit by a pitch, which advanced Owen Parliment home for the score. Next at-bat, Oneonta walked Blake Van Dreason, which brought McCarthy home for his second run of the game.

The score would be 8-5 with four innings remaining.

The Lakers continued to draw closer to Oneonta, making it a one run game in the bottom of the sixth after they scored another pair of runs.

Parliment hit a two-run home run in the inning, bringing in Levine with him, and the score would be 8-7.

Oswego tied the game at eight in the next inning, with Levine singling to third base, bringing in Drew for the RBI.

An error by the Lakers allowed Oneonta to score a pair of runs in the next inning, with Oneonta taking a 3 run lead with one and a half innings remaining.

The Lakers added a run in the bottom of the eight, making it a two run game. Carullo recorded a single, bringing in McCarthy for his third run of the game.

Oswego held Oneonta scoreless in the top of the ninth, giving them a chance to win the game with a walk-off score.

Oswego left two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth, falling short to the Red Dragons. The final score would be 11-9 Oneonta.

Levine and McCarthy led the Lakers at the plate this afternoon, each going 2-3 at-bat. McCarthy added three runs, while Levine added a pair of runs and an RBI.

Oswego State will host their final regular season matchup on Tuesday, May 2nd, with Alfred State College coming to town. The game is scheduled for 3pm.
