POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Soccer team competed with SUNY Potsdam earlier today. Despite it being a competitive matchup neither side was able to score resulting in a draw 0-0.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Oswego State 0 (3-1-3, 0-0-1 SUNYAC), SUNY Potsdam 0 (2-3-2, 0-1-2)
Location: Maxcy Turf Field | Potsdam, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
The first half was bright for Oswego, the Lakers were primarily on the offensive, Oswego had 9 shots in the first half, as opposed to just 2 shots by the Bears.
-
Throughout the entire game the Lakers utilized many great opportunities, but the Bears goalie and defensive line were prepared to respond.
-
The second half created muddy and murky waters all around and though the Lakers brought an emboldened energy, the Bears' defense utilized the "equal and opposite reaction" of Newton's third law and was able to counter the offensive.
-
Even with no goals being scored it's crucial to note that this was a fiercely competitive contest, if either side conceded just a little the outcome would likely have been different.
-
The Lakers led in all game statistics except for fouls and saves, where the Bears pulled ahead and had more saves due to playing almost a strictly defensive game.
-
With the final score of 0-0, the Lakers and Bears played to a tie.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will be back on the road next week for a matchup with SUNY Brockport on Wednesday 9/27 at 4:00pm.
