CANTON, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Soccer team took on the Canton 'Roos in their first game of the 2023 season this afternoon. Katie Delgrosso had herself a day with two goals! Brianna Winkler and Shayna Connally also tallied goals for the Lakers. The Lakers put up a whopping 24 shots on goal in the contest, led by Amber McDermott and Delgrosso.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Just under five minutes into the contest, the Lakers had already put up four shots and had two corner kicks.

Delgrosso scored her first goal at the 21:38 mark of the first half.

Canton did not record a shot until the 27:51 mark of the first half and did not record another for the remainder of the half.

Shayna Connally headed a goal in from a rebound off of the foot of Delgrosso.

A corner kick from Emma Rechtorovic would end the half and give the 'Roos a chance to figure out the miscues they had endured in the first half.

Oswego didn't let up in the second half, putting up four shots before Winkler scored her first of the season after a cross was saved and she grabbed the rebound.

Canton recorded their second shot of the game at the 64:19 mark of the contest and broke the shutout for the Lakers off of a free kick.

After multiple substitutions for both sides, Delgrosso scored her second goal of the contest and third point of the game! This goal came at 84:42 in the contest.

The contest ended at 4-1 in favor of the Lakers.
