The SUNYAC announced the selection of three Oswego State Lakers for their weekly conference awards during the week of January 8th - 14th.
Rheya Zemlak - Women Ice Hockey Player of the week
Hannah Skavnak - Women's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week
Jeremiah Sparks - Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Zemlak, a sophomore from Calgary, Alberta, helped lead the Lakers to their third straight win over the SUNY Potsdam Bears last weekend. In two games she tallied 3 assists and a goal for 4 total points in two games. Rheya also scored her first career goal against the Bears on Saturday afternoon. Zemlak finished the week with a strong +5 on-ice rating..Â
Skavnak, a freshman from Andover, Minnesota, stopped 20 shots from the SUNY Potsdam Bears on Saturday on the way to a SUNY Oswego conference victory. This was her third time this season she recorded 20 or more saves in a game for the Lakers. Hannah currently leads the SUNYAC in goals-against average (.44) and save percentage (.981).
Women's hockey will return home Tuesday night (1/16) to host Hamilton College at 5:00 PM.
Sparks, a senior from Jordan, New York, had 17 points at SUNY Oneonta and 27 points at home against SUNY Cortland leading the Lakers to two conference wins last week. He averaged 22 points a game on 52% shooting for the week while grabbing 6.5 rebounds a game. Jeremiah leads the SUNYAC in points per game (21.4) so far this season.Â
Men's Basketball will hit the road Tuesday (1/16) for a conference match-up at SUNY New Paltz starting at 7:30 PM.
