OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Basketball team hosted the Oneonta Red Dragons in a conference match-up this evening. At the end of regulation time, the score was tied at 83-83.
The Lakers overtook the Red Dragons during overtime, besting them 94-89.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Starting the game off hot,
Jeremiah Sparks slammed home a dunk off the opening tip. Then,
Sean Edwards scored ten quick points helping the Lakers gain an early advantage.
Ahkee Anderson and
Jamal Achille continued that momentum and
Jeremiah Sparks recorded 3 assists off those baskets. Oswego jumped to a 19-10 lead. The Lakers kept the Red Dragons at bay until a three-pushed Oneonta into the lead 33-32. The first half ended with Oswego down 46-38 after the Red Dragons won the battle on the boards.
The second half saw the Lakers score fourteen to the Red Dragon's eleven to close the point gap in the beginning six minutes of the half. This made the score 57-52 with the green and gold still trailing. Points were traded back and forth between the teams and with less than four minutes left, a three by
Kaleb Cook boosted the Lakers to 76 versus the Red Dragons' 81. This had the home crowd roaring. A clutch layup by Sparks tied the game up at 83-83 with just 38. seconds left and the game extended to overtime.
A layup and three gave Oswego a boost to 88-84 in the opening minute of overtime. With the score tied at 88-88 with one minute left;
Ahkee Anderson then added two for the Lakers on a pull-up jumper. Fianlly, two free throws by Sparks secured the win for the Lakers with the final score resting at 94-89.
Leading point scorers for the night were Sparks with 24 and Anderson with 20.

The Lakers will head to Cortland, NY on Saturday, January 27 to take on the Red Dragons with a 4:00 P.M. start time.
