OSWEGO, NY – The Men's Basketball team kicked off 2024 with a home SUNYAC matchup against SUNY Brockport. The Golden Eagles would put up a strong fight, but the Lakers ended up the victors, remaining undefeated in conference play.

Final Score: #10 Oswego 78 (9-1, 3-0 SUNYAC), Brockport 68 (5-4, 1-2 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
· The first ten minutes of the opening half would see both teams trade points and leads back and forth until the Lakers were able to pull away on a 10-0 run for a two-minute period of the half.
· The game would return to a back-and-forth affair for the remainder of the half and Brockport would close the first frame with a 6-0 run to finish the first half with the Lakers leading 43-38.
· The second half would see slightly less scoring as neither defense would allow the other team to go on any offensive runs and the teams would trade opportunities for most of the half.
· Ultimately, the Lakers would outscore the visitors 35-30 in the second half to walk away with a 78-68 victory over their conference rivals.
· Jeremiah Sparks and Cartier Bowman would lead the Lakers' scoring efforts with 19 and 18 points respectively.
· Bowman would also contribute on the other side of the ball as he added 14 rebounds for a double-double on the evening.

The Lakers will be back at the Max Ziel Gym Saturday afternoon as they host the Geneseo Knights to conclude the weekends' action.
