Women's Ice Hockey ready to take the ice for the 2024-25 season

OSWEGO, NY – The SUNY Oswego women's ice hockey team is set to kick off their 2024-25 campaign this Saturday with an exhibition game. Head Coach Mark Digby returns for his fourth season with Grace Schnorr as a new assistant coach. In the three previous seasons, Digby has an overall record of 36-15-3.

The Lakers return their top four point leaders in Mack Hull, Ashlyn McGrath, Rachel Corbett and Simone Bednarik (second team all SUNYAC). Erika Parenti, Tessa Mucha, Lizzie Burke, Sophia Kyrkostas, Kaylen Taddia and Sarah Muller will return as forwards. On defense, Helen Vandamme, Myah Booth, Leah Coley, Rylee Preston, Rheya Zemlak, Lauren Schell and Tilly Pethrick all return as well. Goalies Lexi Levy (second team all SUNYAC) and Hannah Skavnak round out the returning Lakers for the season.

Below, we will introduce the newcomers to the Lakers this season!

Elizabeth Cooley is from Rutland, Vermont and will be a forward for the Lakers. Cooley will wear #16.  Wearing #35 will be Mia Devivo, an incoming goalie from Plainfield, Illinois.  #26 will be Sydni Pinti. She will be on defense and is from Gilbert, Arizona. Shaye Jasiel, #24, will also be on defense and is from Poughquag, NY. Jenna Majewski will wear #19 as a forward for the Lakers. She is from Peoria, Arizona.  #17 Solana Zizzo will be a first-year defender and comes to Oswego from Manlius, New York. Meagan Smith, #14 is from Calgary, Alberta. She will be a forward in her first season with the Lakers. Katie Demers is from Chazy, New York and is a forward. For Oswego, she will wear #11. Brittany Iversen is a transfer from Endicott College. As a forward, she will wear #5 for the Lakers. Jayden Kelley (JK) is a transfer from SUNY Cortland. She will wear #10 as a graduate forward.

Last season, the women's ice hockey team finished with an overall record of 14-11-1 while going 12-5-1 in the conference. In the post season, they were nearly edged out by the eventual conference champions, SUNY Cortland.

Oswego has a strong combination of returning experience and incoming talent that will make them a high-powered program heading into the 2024-25 season.

Come show your support in their first game of the season tomorrow, October 19th, at 3:00 PM in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena.
