OSWEGO NY. - The SUNY Oswego Volleyball team hosted the Potsdam Bears on Friday night in Max Ziel Gymnasium, This was the first time the Lakers returned home since they hosted their tournament. Oswego was looking to secure their second conference win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, the Lakers jumped out to a small lead until the Bears battled back taking a 12-9 lead. A kill from
Cara Simplicio ended the Bears rally giving
CJ Eidem the serve. With the set tied at 13,
Mya Bush was up to serve and delivered multiple points for the Lakers. To end the set,
Nyah Dias set
Kalley Vugteveen for a final kill and a 25-20 set win.
In the second, Potsdam jumped out to a small lead with both teams battling for control in the set. After a timeout, the Lakers went on a streak of three straight points to take a 12-10 lead of their own. The Bears attempted to claw their way back into the lead but a kill from
Emily Zeisler ended their momentum.
Kalley Vugteveen ended the set with a streak as a server lifting the Lakers to a second-set victory, 25-16.
The Lakers started the third set off with a high-energy kill. With the set tied at 7, Dias set up Simplicio for the kill but Potsdam was quick to answer back. When the Bears took a timeout, the Lakers came right back with a kill from
Kalley Vugteveen to build on a small lead. Despite the efforts from Oswego, Potsdam built a lead of their own forcing a Lakers time-out that helped them close the gap to 19-18 in favor of the Bears. Potsdam ultimately dealt the Lakers a set 3 loss, 25-21.
The fourth set saw neither team willing to give an inch, After Oswego had handled the Bears early, Potsdam would not go quietly. Neither the Bears nor the Lakers were able to build a lead larger than a few points for most of the set. Eventually, the two teams were knotted at 20 points a piece. A Potsdam kill and block gave them a small lead. Vugteveen answered with a kill of her own followed by a Potsdam attack error to knot us up once again at 22. The trend continued to a score of 24 all and a time-out by the Lakers. Unfortunately, the Bears forced a 5
th set.
The 5th and deciding set was started with a kill from
Cara Simplicio who followed it up with an ace.
Priscilla McReynolds and
Kalley Vugteveen came up with a big block to increase the Lakers lead to 4-1. Out of a timeout, it was Vugteveen from Bush with another kill. With a 13-10 lead, Potsdam went on a two-point run to close the gap to one. For the final point, the
