HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers and the Hawks traded fouls back and forth early in what proved to be a physical match. The Lakers had a few good looks early but their best chance came after
Chris Smith chased down a long pass past the Hawks defenders and buried the ball into the pack of the net. That goal was scored in the 27
th minute of play and held as a lead until halftime.
In the second half, the physical play continued with the Hawks testing the Lakers goalkeeper
Kyle Rose forcing him to make 5 saves on the day all coming in the second half. In the 84
th minute,
Kyle Gehnrich delivered a pass to
Tajay Ellis on a breakaway for the second Lakers goal of the game giving Oswego a larger cushion with less than ten minutes remaining. The Lakers defense kept the Hawks at bay for the remainder of the half and secured the home conference win.
