HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers put on an offensive masterclass in a game that saw 12 total goals, all belonging to the Lakers. Senior
Carissa Roux got the Lakers started with a goal off an assist from
Brianna Winkler, the first of 3 assists for Winkler. Not long after, team captain
Katie Delgrosso, who was fighting through injury, found the back of the net. Exactly 3 minutes later,
Amber McDermott brought the Laker lead to 3-0 after cashing in on a penalty shot. At 20:22,
Kaylee Elliot lit up the scoreboard on a breakaway, after an entry pass from
Jackie Marquardt. Only one minute later,
Courtney Key was able to break free and fire a shot past the goalkeeper, bringing the Laker lead to 5. To close out the first half,
Alison Dimitrijevski added an unassisted goal for good measure. The Lakers took a commanding 6-0 lead in halftime after outshooting the Mustangs 17-1.
The Lakers didn't waste any time in picking up where they left off as
Keeley McConkey put the Lakers up 7-0, off an assist by
Luna Catano. McConkey was unsatisfied with just one, as she picked up her 2nd goal of the game just 3 minutes later off a feed from
Cassidy Adamec. McConkey was able to complete a hat-trick all in the span of 10 minutes as she scored her 3rd goal of the game at 57:36. At 70:15,
Gabriella Martinez was able to get in on the action as she snuck one past the Mustangs' goalkeeper off a pass from
Brianna Winkler. Winkler was able to score herself at 73:17. The 12th and final goal was scored by
Alison Dimitrijevski at 81:38. The Lakers defensive remained flawless throughout, registering a shutout. Goalkeeper
Perri Anderson secured her 2nd consecutive shutout.
