THE BASICS
Oswego 66 (2-2, 0-0 SUNYAC)
Alfred 57 (4-1, 0-0 Empire 8)
Max Ziel Gymnasium, Oswego, NY
HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego's
Macey DeOrdio lead the offense for most of the day finishing with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Alfred Saxons jumped to a quick 15-5 lead early in the 1st quarter. They were able to get to the free throw line for eight attempts, converting on six of those attempts. The Lakers were able to quickly erase the 10-point deficit thanks to baskets by DeOrdio and White-Principio. The Lakers trailed by 2 going into halftime.
To start the 3rd quarter, the Saxons were able to mount an 8-point lead, and it appeared as if they were going to run away with the game. The Lakers adjusted and began to play at a faster pace, attacking the Saxon's defense in the fast break, not allowing Alfred to set up their defense. This proved to be very successful in the 4th quarter as the Lakers outscored the Saxons 21-8. In the final minutes, it was free throws from DeOrdio and Iglesias that sealed the victory for Oswego.
