Final Score:

Location: Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium | Utica, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers opened this game with a new starting goalie, freshman
Gavin McCarthy who had appeared in 2 games this season. New England, after falling to the tournament host Utica University last night by a score of 5-6, carried over their offensive success to the first period of this one. The Nor'easters opened the scoring at the 3:37 mark when a goal slid past the skate of McCarthy. Not long later, UNE found success again against McCarthy scoring their second goal of the game at 4:47 and giving them an early 2-0 lead over the Lakers. The two early goals prompted a goalie change for Oswego sending
Brandon Milberg into the net to replace McCarthy. For the rest of the first period, it was all Lakers. The comeback started at 12:15 when
Ryan Burke scored on a powerplay to cut into the deficit. A few minutes later,
Josh Simpson scored his first goal of the season to tie the game up at 15:40. To cap off the period,
Daniel Colabufo scored giving Oswego a 3-2 lead at the end of the period after being down 2-0 in the first 5 minutes.
In the second period, each team took their turn on a power play, but neither were able to score on the advantage. The period looked as if it was going to end scoreless until in the final minute,
Daniel Colabufo scored his second goal of the night assisted by
Marco Iozzo to give the Lakers a 4-2 lead at the second break.
The Nor'easters started out the third period putting immediate pressure on the Oswego defense. At the 1:41 mark, they closed the gap to just one goal with most of the third period left to play. As the teams remained at even strength for the entire period, it proved difficult for either team to create scoring opportunities. At the 15:55 mark, UNE tied the game at 4 goals each putting the Lakers back on their heels for the remainder of the period. The score was held for both teams forcing the Lakers into their second overtime game in two days. In overtime, each team had their chance, but neither were able to score, which officially ended the game in a tie.
The two teams went to an exhibition shootout which UNE won, 3-1.
