Canton 70 (0-5, 0-1 SUNYAC)

SUNY Canton | Canton, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego opened the game with a layup from Xavier Allen, immediately matched by Canton. The Lakers then began to build momentum, with Ahkee Anderson sinking a jumper, Cole Kattan converting a free throw after drawing a foul, and Deacon Judd adding a layup to establish a 7-3 lead. Canton responded with a strong push to tie the game at 7-7. Following an Oswego timeout, Billy Reyes reignited the Lakers' offense, delivering a layup and a three-pointer to reclaim the lead with 12 minutes remaining in the half. While the Roos managed to chip away at the deficit, the Lakers' sharp shooting kept them ahead. Reyes continued his impressive performance, adding a jumper and another three-pointer, while Judd contributed a layup and a free throw to extend the lead to 23-13 with nine minutes on the clock. Oswego capitalized on Canton's mistakes, turning five Roo turnovers into key scoring opportunities, compared to just one turnover for the Lakers. With four minutes left, Reyes drained his third three-pointer of the half, marking his sixth basket on seven attempts and bringing his total to 16 points. Judd followed up with a layup and free throw, widening Oswego's lead to 38-24. As the half came to a close, Anderson stole the ball in the final seconds and nailed a jumper at the buzzer, sending the Lakers into halftime with a commanding 45-33 advantage.

The second half began with a jumper from Xavier Allen, capitalizing on Canton's eighth turnover of the game. Oswego continued to thrive by turning mistakes into opportunities, distributing the ball effectively for key plays. Canton briefly showed signs of a comeback with back-to-back three-pointers, but the Lakers answered swiftly with a layup and three-pointer to maintain their lead at 52-39. Cole Kattan added three points on a layup and foul, and the Lakers' relentless offense pushed their advantage further as Allen, Ahkee Anderson, and Billy Reyes contributed to a commanding 68-44 lead with 12 minutes remaining. Despite Canton's attempts to close the gap, Oswego's consistent execution and aggressive defense stifled the Roos' efforts. Allen sank a three-pointer, followed by Kattan's defensive rebound that set up Anderson for a layup and free throw. Layups from Allen and Gary McLane extended the lead to 82-54 with seven minutes left. Canton's defensive lapses and increasingly disorganized play allowed the Lakers to capitalize with sharp execution and suffocating defense, sealing a decisive 98-70 victory and their second SUNYAC win of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT
