LEXINGTON, SC. – The Oswego Baseball team faced off against the Spartans of Case Western Reserve. The Spartans ran away with the game after scoring seven runs in the seventh contributing to their 14-6 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With two outs in the bottom of the first, a Spartans runner got hit by a pitch to get on base, the following batter reached first on an infield error. This was topped off by a homerun to left field giving CWRU the early lead.
To start off the second inning,
Jelani Hamer reached first on a fielder's choice and later stole second.
Felix De Asa Delacruz then hit a single through to the left side allowing Hamer to bring in the Laker's first run. The Spartans added to their tally when their first batter hit a homer to right field, making the score 4-1.
Sean Dertinger held CWRU scoreless in the third and fourth from the mound.
In the bottom of the fifth, with one out, the Spartans hit a single to left field followed by a double down the third baseline which bumped CWRU's score to five. Now with two outs, a single through the right side pushed the runner on second to home.
Joe McLaughlin singled to left field to start off the sixth.
Daniel Winchester was hit by a pitch putting the runners on first and second. Now with one out, Winchester stole second and advanced to third on the throw, while McLaughlin stole third and beat the throw to home. Winchester brought in an additional run after a sacrifice fly. Oswego, trailing but still optimistic, was down 6-4. With one out and a Spartan runner on first, the next batter hit a double that brought in run number seven for CWRU.
The first Spartans batter got on base from a hit by pitch. The next batter hit a single with the lead runner advancing to third. Following that, the next batter hit a single to right, pushing the lead runner home, but Oswego was able to get an out at third. With runners now on first and second, a single up the middle brought in the ninth Spartan run. The following batter hit their second home run of the game to bring CWRU up 12-4. Later with the bases loaded, a single brought in two more runs.
In the top of the eighth, two Lakers got on base from a hit by pitch and walk but were left stranded. In the bottom, Oswego got three quick outs to turn it back around.
After two Laker singles and an infield error, bases were loaded. VanDreason reached on a fielder's choice to bring in two final runs for Oswego. The game concluded 14-6.

The Lakers will have a rematch against Case Western Reserve on March 15 at 2:30 p.m.
