OSWEGO, NY – Senior
Charlie Grygas (174 lbs.) and Freshman
Gabe Goss (141 lbs.) are heading to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on March 15
th and 16
th in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Grygas and Goss punched their ticket with a successful outing this weekend at RIT in the NCAA Division III Northeast Regionals. On Friday, Grygas won 3 matches, 2 by pin and 1 by major decision. Then on Sunday, Grygas the top seed and defending Regional champion advanced to the finals with a 9-2 decision. Grygas medical forfeited the championship match. For Goss on Friday, Goss won 2 matches one by pin the other a 5-1 decision. On Saturday, Goss the number 4 seed upset the top seed 7-4 in the semi-finals to advance to the finals at 141 where he dropped an 8-1 decision.
This is the third time in his career that
Charlie Grygas as qualified for the NCAA Championships. In 2023, he finished 4
th and in 2020 he qualified but the matches were canceled due to covid. Grygas is a senior from Delanson, NY.
Gabe Goss is a freshman from Schenectady, NY and this is his first time heading to the NCAA's.
