Ithaca, NY – Oswego Lakers men's wrestling was back in action at day 2 of the Ithaca Invitational on Saturday. The Lakers had five wrestlers place in the top 6 of their weight class.

How It Happened
Avery Canzano led the Lakers over the weekend, compiling a 3-1 record at 184 lbs to finish second. The Laker sophomore dropped a close 4-2 decision in the finals to top-seeded Desmond McLaughlin of Castleton. To reach the championship match, Canzano pinned the #2 seed Eamon Callaghan of Ithaca in 4:52. Canzano opened the tournament with a technical fall 19-3 win before winning by injury default in the quarterfinals in just 24 seconds.
Anthony Avitabile (157lbs) suffered his second loss of the tournament to Gannon White of Norwich (10-7 decision,) ending his day on Sunday.
At 149lbs,
Donovan Rail dropped his match Sunday to Riley Carlucci of Springfield 11-4.
Dustin Koskinen-Falls (285lbs) started his day off with a win over John Robyck 7-3 and then another win over Keonta Crawford from Castleton, 4-3. He dropped a match to Evan Day 8-2 and ended on a win over Colton Perkins from Castleton 10-5. Dustin finished 5
th overall.
Jayden Kiell took on Matthew Hoxie in the 184lb division but fell by major decision in the consolation bracket.
Freshman
Juan Roque started his collegiate career off with a solid third place finish at 125 pounds. Roque went 5-1 over the two-day event finishing it off with a 21-13 major decision over Robert Lyons of Norwich.
Laker captain
Michael Santore compiled a 6-1 record to finish third at 141. Santore avenged his overtime loss in the quarterfinals by defeating Isaac Quiles of Springfield 1-0 in the match for third place.
Patrick David (174lbs) started his day with a win over Anthony Mayers from Cortland, 15-2. He then dropped a match to Ethan Kring 11-3 ending his day.
Payne Weinhauser (157lbs) took down Caden Geanetta of Norwich 4-2 to start his Saturday. He followed that up with a defeat of his own teammate,
Steven Ventricelli, 11-5. Unfortunately, Payne then suffered back-to-back losses from Castleton. Payne finished 6
th overall.
Steven Ventricelli opened his day with a win over Cody Salomon from Penn College 15-8. After a medical forfeit, he dropped a match to his teammate Payne Weinhauser 11-5.

Men's wrestling will head next to the New York State Collegiate Open hosted at the SRC arena on the Campus of Onondaga Community College on Saturday November 22
