HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1:
The game started off with Oswego at bat, in the top of the first inning, with three consecutive strikeouts leaving them with no runs, hits, or errors. SUNY New Paltz followed suit in the bottom of the inning, also failing to score.

In the second inning Oswego took the lead on a crucial single from Kylie Detz to center field that scored Lily Fanea who singled to start the inning.

The New Paltz bats answered right back in the bottom of the third pushing across three runs to take the lead back over the Lakers.

Oswego attempted to rally in subsequent innings but struggled to get past SUNY New Paltz's solid defense and pitching. Despite some promising moments, Oswego was unable to bridge the gap, ultimately falling short in the bid for victory.

Fiona Higgins pitched a complete first game allowing only 5 hits, 3 runs, and striking out 7.

Game 2:

Neither team created a run in the first two innings of game two. Oswego was on the bored first once again when Grace DiPalma started a rally in the third with a single to right field. Mattison Phinney followed with a single of her own. After a fielder's choice, Lily Fanea reached on an error by the New Paltz short stop allowing two runs in for Oswego.

New Paltz answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third on one hit, a walk, and a hit by pitch.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the 6th when New Paltz pushed across 5 more runs to take a 7-2 lead into the final frame.

In the 7th, the Lakers made one final push starting with a walk by Christina Kania. Then, Mattinson Phinney smashed a double to centerfield that scored Kania. Phinney advanced to third on a passed ball, but the rally unfortunately ended with the Lakers dropping the second game, 7-3.

Chelsea Sellars started on the mound for the Lakers and was relieved by Maria Lutz.
