Lakers Fly By The Hawks to Remain Undefeated in the SUNYAC

OSWEGO, NY. - The Oswego State Men's Lacrosse team hosted the SUNY New Paltz Hawks for another SUNYAC match-up Saturday afternoon at the Laker Turf Stadium. The Lakers were able to pull away from the Hawks in the fourth securing their third conference win, 12-8.

The Lakers also celebrated their seniors today. Matt Bender, Max Broadmann, Owen Spearing, Max Hahn, Chris Schmidt, Garrett Petrelli,Tyler Stevenson, and Liam Sexton.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hawks caught the Lakers off guard early taking a 1-0 lead in the first minute of play. That was followed by five straight goals from the Lakers from four different goal scorers. Hayden Coney (Charles Praschunus, Jason Dongelewic), Liam Sexton (Emmett Starowizc), Logan Prescott, and Chris Schmidt all found the back of the net before the end of the first.

Corey O'Connor was the only goal scorer for Oswego in the second, he was assisted by Garrett Elston. The Hawks offense went on a strong push in the second netting five goals to tie this game up at 6 heading into half time.

The third quarter was highly contested with both teams scoring twice keeping the score tied. Corey O'Connor (Emmett Starowizc) scored a man up goal followed by Starowizc scoring an unassisted goal of his own.

The fourth quarter was all Lakers and it started with faceoffs; Logan Prescott went 4-0 in the fourth quarter helping the Lakers maintain control. Garrett Elston, Corey O'Connor, Hayden Coney, and Liam Sexton all scored unassisted goals in the fourth. The Hawks were not able to answer on the offensive end. Seamus Hand came up with 12 big saves in the game to help the Lakers remain undefeated in conference play.

For the Lakers, Logan Prescott recorded his 200th career ground ball this afternoon!

WHAT'S NEXT

The Men's Lacrosse team will host Keuka College on Wednesday, April 10th, at 4:00PM, in a non-conference match-up.
