CORTLAND, N.Y. – SUNY Oswego Baseball was back in action this afternoon for the second day of the SUNYAC Baseball Championships. In this double elimination tournament, the Lakers met the loser of game one, the SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers struck first against the Cardinals in the second when Anthony Barone singled home Danny Winchester for a one run lead. After the Cardinals answered in the top of the third, CJ McCarthy crushed a three-run home run to right field in the bottom of the third to give the Lakers another lead, 4-2 after 3 innings.
Blake Van Dreason started off the fifth inning with a solo home run. That was followed up by a two RBI single from Tishawn Featherstone that scored Hamer and Parliament giving the Lakers a 7-2 lead.
Jelani Hamer boosted the offense with a solo home run in the 7th giving the Lakers an insurance run heading into the 8th inning.
Jacob Sanders went for 8 complete innings allowing just 5 hits and striking out 13, that ties the Oswego program record for strikeouts in a game.
In the ninth Richie Paul came in to close out the Cardinals and launched the Lakers into another SUNYAC Championship tournament game at 4:00 PM today.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will take on the New Paltz Hawks once again later this afternoon starting at 4:00 PM.
