THE BASICS

Final Score
Oswego 2 (1-1, 0-0)
Wilkes University 3 (1-0, 0-0)
Location: Ralston Athletic Complex - Schmidt Stadium

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Colonels offense and defense came out with a ton of energy as they were able to hold the Lakers scoreless throughout the first quarter. The Colonels were looking to score early and often with two early goals by Morgan Hermanofski and Lexie Nevel that had Wilks up 2-0 throughout most of the first half. The Lakers were able to get on the board early in the second quarter when Harlie Giliberti found the back of the net with an assist from Kate McNally. This one-point deficit would not last, as Wilkes quickly added a insurance goal later in the second period off the stick of Kellie Scott, 1-3 Wilkes.

The Third quarter began with a lot of opportunities for the Lakers. Players ran up and down defending hard and fast and that led to a defensive battle that would see the score remain a 2-point deficit and the Lakers threatening to score as the quarter ended. As the fourth quarter began the Lakers seized on the opportunity as Kate McNally was able to score a screamer from the top of the circle with five minutes to go that would see the deficit again fall back to 1.
The Lakers were unable to add another goal as the Wilkes Defense stood strong and held the Lakers scoreless for the remainder of the game Wilkes 3-2
