OSWEGO, NY - The SUNY Oswego women's soccer team hosted the Keuka College Wolves on Tuesday afternoon for their final non-conference game. After a scoreless first half, the Lakers broke through in the second half to secure a 1-0 home win.
THE BASICS
Final score:
Oswego 1 (4-3, 0-0 SUNYAC)
Keuka 0 (1-5, 0-1 Empire 8)
Location: Laker Turf Field, SUNY Oswego
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers started this game producing shots on goal almost immediately. The offense tested Keuka's goal keeper early, rarely letting the Wolves cross the midfield line. Oswego constantly created scoring opportunities with crosses and corner kicks to the front of the net. At the 16-minute mark, Delgrosso fired a shot that rattled off the cross bar and McDermott shot the rebound back at the Wolves but it was saved by the keeper. With ten minutes to go in the half,
Sabrina Schmitt had a break away chance that was stifled by the Keuka goalie coming out to meet her. The half ended with both teams tied at 0 and the Lakers out shooting their opponent, 15-1.
In the second half, Oswego continued to outshoot the Wolves and at the 61
st minute, finally found the back of the net. After a corner kick,
Jackie Marquardt fired one past the keeper assisted by
Lynnae Russell. With time winding down, Keuka boosted their offense trying to break the tie before time expired. A couple of late saves from
Perri Anderson helped the Lakers blank the Wolves and earn the victory at home.

th when they host Oneonta for their first conference match of the season.
