HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
This game had a very high intensity start. Both teams were ultra physical. This was rightfully so as this was a highly anticipated conference matchups between two winning teams. Oswego's
Scout McCumiskey wasted no time as in the 11th minute he ripped a goal into the back of the net. The assist came from a good pass off the foot of
Kyle Gehnrich. Scout loved this one as it was only his second goal on the season. Shots were flying as well for the Red Dragons, but none found Goalkeeper
Kyle Rose as he did not record a save in the first half. This game was chippy as Oneonta and Oswego combined for 15 fouls in the first half. In the end, Oswego led 1-0 after 45.Â
The second half had a fiery shift with a much slower pace. Only 1 shot by both respective teams were attempted and only one foul for each team within the first 10 minutes. Things quickly changed as Oneonta's Luigi Prosperi opened the scoring with a rip into the lower left goal. This game was squared at 1 and it was apparent that we were in for a nail biter down the stretch. This game had a tight knot around the 1-1 score throughout most of the 2nd half. But in the 82nd minute Senior Ali Somow untangled the knot and put Oneonta up 2-1. This was Somow's third goal of the season. He has been a big part for the Red Dragons all season and came up big late in this one. Oswego had 8 minutes to try to get back into this one. They attempted 3 shots in the final 4 minutes, but none could fall. In the end, Oneonta rallied past Oswego 2-1.Â
