HOW IT HAPPENED

The first goal came at the 30 minute mark of the first half and only 4 shots were attempted. It was evident that these teams were playing slow and trying to figure each other out as this is only the 8th contest between these 2 teams in the past 19 years. Defense turned into offense for the Lakers and Hajoon Lee picked up his first assist of the season. Lee sent a beautiful through ball to the Junior Midfielder, Jason Wuytack and Wuytack did the rest.

Oswego through the first half had demoralizing defense as they allowed 0 goals, 2 corner kicks and kept the ball on their half for most of it.

The Lakers ended the 45-minute half topping the Cardinals by 1.

The second half started exactly how the Cardinals wanted it to as they managed 3 corner kicks in the first 5 minutes, but Oswego's corner defense was too much for the St. John Fisher's attack. Oswego has yet to let up a goal off a corner kick this season.

Fisher kept applying pressure to start the second half as just after the 55-minute mark they had an easy chance to get on the board. The outstanding goal tending by Kyle Rose kept that from happening.

The late second half was action filled as Fisher was trying to get back into this game. Their aggression was evident, but nothing was beating the resilient and tough Oswego defense. At 1:42 left in the game the Oswego defense got a little too tough as they fouled Ryan Brown in the box. Ryan Brown had not scored once this season, but this penalty struck the back left of the net to knot things up.

With less than 2 minutes this game was bound to end 1-1 and that it did. Oswego was hoping to maintain the lead but with a late foul that wasn't the case, and the match ended in a tie.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will return home to host their home opener against Elmira College on Tuesday September 10th starting at 7:00 PM.
