HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mustangs opened the game with possession, methodically passing the ball before missing a three-point attempt. The Lakers mirrored their slow start, coming up empty on their first possession. Three minutes into the game, Morrisville broke the deadlock with a layup, but Giavanna White-Principio quickly responded for Oswego with a layup off a defensive rebound. Both teams struggled to convert their chances early on, keeping the score tied at 2-2 for several minutes. The Lakers broke the stalemate with a layup from Shania Iglesias, followed by a steal and fast break layup from Macey DeOrdio to edge ahead. The Mustangs countered with a three-pointer to stay within a point, then regained the lead with a free throw and another shot from beyond the arc. DeOrdio narrowed the margin with another layup, but Morrisville's offense continued to find success from deep. As both teams started to find their rhythm, Sydney Hoefs added a layup for the Lakers, closing the gap to 14-16 with a minute remaining. The quarter ended with Oswego trailing 15-18 after a competitive opening frame.

The second quarter opened with a series of missed shots and turnovers on both sides, but Julie Tannenblatt broke the ice for the Lakers with a three-pointer to tie the game at 18-18. After two scoreless minutes, Shania Iglesias added another three-pointer for Oswego, only for the Mustangs to answer immediately, keeping the score tied at 21-21 with six minutes left in the half. Morrisville pulled ahead with a free throw and a three-pointer, making it 25-21, but the Lakers fought back. Giavanna White-Principio's steal led to a three-pointer by Sydney Hoefs, narrowing the margin. Following a Mustang free throw and an Oswego layup, the score was tied again at 26-26. With one minute left, Macey DeOrdio drained a three-pointer to give the Lakers a 29-26 lead, which they held onto as the quarter ended.

The third quarter began with both teams trading possessions until Shania Iglesias ended the scoring drought with a layup off a defensive rebound. Morrisville answered with a three-pointer, narrowing the Lakers' lead to one possession. Giavanna White-Principio drew a foul and added one point from the free-throw line, but the Mustangs responded with another three-pointer to tie the game at 32-32 with seven minutes left in the quarter. As the intensity rose, the teams continued exchanging baskets, with neither able to gain a decisive advantage. With the score locked at 38-38, Morrisville called a timeout just under four minutes before the quarter's end. The Mustangs emerged from the break with a surge, scoring a three-pointer and two layups to take the lead. Oswego fought back with layups from Elaina Johnson and Macey DeOrdio, keeping the game within reach. The quarter concluded with the Lakers trailing by just three points, 42-45.

The Lakers carried their momentum into the fourth quarter as Logan Nyemchek opened the scoring with a smooth jumper. Shania Iglesias followed with a three-pointer, reclaiming the lead at 47-45. Morrisville quickly tied it up with two free throws, and the intensity of the game visibly increased as players battled for every point. Macey DeOrdio regained the lead for Oswego after drawing a foul and sinking her free throws, but the Mustangs countered with a three-pointer and two more free throws, pulling ahead 49-54 after a layup with six minutes left. Following a timeout, the Lakers surged back, with a layup and free throw cutting the deficit to 52-54. Sydney Hoefs stepped up with a clutch three-pointer, Giavanna White-Principio added a jumper, and DeOrdio scored a layup, giving Oswego a 59-54 advantage. Morrisville responded with a three-pointer to narrow the gap, but the Lakers maintained composure. A layup off a defensive rebound and a bucket from White-Principio put the score at 63-60 with just over a minute remaining. Hoefs secured two free throws in the final 30 seconds, sealing the Lakers' hard-fought 65-60 victory as the Mustangs failed to capitalize on their final possession.
