OSWEGO, N.Y. – No.5 Oswego Women's hockey returned to home ice for the second time this week, so far, looking to regain some winning momentum against the Manhattanville Valiants. Ready to kick off this weekend's series on the right foot, the Lakers started hot, catching Manhattanville off guard in the first. A power play goal by Mackenzie Hull would open scoring and light a fire under the Lakers' bench as they headed into second period with a 1-0 lead. Unsatisfied with just one goal in the first, the Lakers would start the 2nd period on the prowl, notching 2 goals in 10 minutes improving the scoreline to 3-0 before the final frame. As the final period got underway, the Lakers stayed hungry at both ends of the ice, collecting 3 more tallies before the buzzer. Oswego would pull away from the evening with a dominant 6-0 win over Manhattanville.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ready to kick off Senior Weekend on the right foot, the Lakers came out of the gate flying. An opening faceoff win, and immediate zone time for Oswego would catch Manhattanville off guard as they settled into the Lakers' pace. A compilation of shots from Oswego would give opposing net minder Olivia Cimorelli a feel for the puck early as first year Mia Devivo waited patiently for some shots from the Valiants. Graduate student Rachel Corbett would be called for cross-checking, awarding Manhattanville the first advantage of the game at the 6:55 mark. An aggressive Laker penalty kill would keep the Valiants out of scoring range and generate offensive momentum as play returned to even-strength. A few minutes later a tripping penalty against Manhattanville would give the Lakers a prime opportunity to open scoring, which they did. A low pass to first year Meagan Smith at the goal line would give some time and space to find senior Mackenzie Hull in the slot where she would net the puck over the right pad of Cimorelli at the 13:40 mark. Oswego kept their energy up in the final moments of the first period but would have to settle for a 1-0 lead heading into the second period.
Unsatisfied with just one goal in the first, the Lakers would start the 2nd period on the prowl. Oswego would maintain possession and zone time for the beginning 8 minutes of the period, testing Cimorelli and her defensemen with a handful of quality passing plays and scoring chances. None would breakthrough until Leah Coley let a slapshot from the blueline, notching a second goal for Oswego at 9:41. A timeout called by Manhattanville head coach Jennifer MacAskill would give her team some time to breathe and recollect, but Oswego kept their foot on the gas. A few minutes later, senior Myah Booth would dive down the left wall of the Valiant's zone, keeping the puck in Laker possession. Booth would climb out of the corner to find Rachel Corbett on the far side of the ice. Great composure by Corbett would lead to her connecting a pass to first year Sydney Pinti backdoor, where she would put a third unanswered goal behind Olivia Cimorelli with three and a half minutes left to play in the period.
As the final period got underway, the Lakers stayed hungry at both ends of the ice. A far-pad shot by Booth would create a rebound that bounced straight on to the stick of Meagan Smith who would tally a 4th goal for Oswego just 1:21 into the third period. Despite their growing lead, the Lakers kept the pressure on in the minutes following. After a couple unsuccessful scoring chances, graduate student Jayden Kelley finally added to the board at the 11-minute mark and found a way to collect a second goal of the night just five minutes later at 15:20, securing Oswego a dominant 6-0 win over Manhattanville University.
