OSWEGO, NY. - The SUNY Oswego Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams hosted their annual senior night against the Cortland Red Dragons. Seniors honored include
Fion Hon,
Alexia Lemus, and
McKenna Briggs for the Women's team, and Will Sterling and
Daniel Hodge for the Men's team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Men's Meet:
Cortland took an early lead, as the Lakers finished second, third, and fifth in the 200 yard medley relay, falling behind.
Jake Sarnowski and
Ryan Liedka took first and second in the 1000 yard freestyle, giving the Lakers a lead through 2 events.
In the 200 yard freestyle,
Ryan Murphy,
Nathan Ratta Vine, and
Duncan Smith finished second, third, and fourth, limiting the damage done by Cortland's first place finish.
Antonio Medina, Sam Waddell, and Mike Neckers took third, fourth, and fifth place, giving Cortland the lead right back.
In the 100 yard breaststroke,
Manav Sindhi took second, with Will Sterling and
Ryan Gublo finishing fourth and fifth.
Mitchell Stevens won the 100 yard butterfly, with
Jayden Hernandez coming third, giving Oswego the edge.
Ryan Murphy won the 50 yard freestyle, with
Duncan Smith and
Ryan Liedka finishing third and fourth, extending Oswego's lead going into the break.
Things went downhill from there, as Sam Waddell and
Ryan Murphy finished third and fourth in the 100 yard freestyle, giving Cortland the lead once again.
Mitchell Stevens kept Oswego's hopes alive, winning the 200 yard backstroke, as
Jayden Hernandez and Mike Neckers finished third and fifth respectively.
The Lakers earned only 3 points in the 100 yard breaststroke, as
Manav Sindhi and Will Sterling finished fourth and fifth.

Ryan Liedka took third, fourth, and fifth in the 500 yard freestyle, extending Cortland's lead further.
Mitchell Stevens and
Jayden Hernandez took second and third in the 100 yard butterfly, keeping the deficit the same.
Manav Sindhi and Jake Sarnowski did the same in the 400 IM, and it was virtually impossible for the Lakers to come out on top going into the final event.
Despite winning being off the table, the Lakers finished second and fourth in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Women's Meet:
Cortland took an early lead, as the Lakers finished second and fourth in the 200 yard medley relay, falling behind.
Emily Seldin was the lone Oswego swimmer in the 1000 yard freestyle, and finished second, earning a couple points, but increasing the deficit for the Lakers.
In the 200 yard freestyle, Jayna LaFerriere took first, and
Emily Seldin finished fourth, starting the Lakers' slow climb back to the Dragons.
Izzy Dague won the 100 yard backstroke, with
Fion Hon finishing fourth, putting the Lakers back in reach.
Emily Lotito took first in the 100 yard breaststroke, with
Kaitlin Wheeler taking fourth, giving the Lakers the lead.
Bella McDonald won the 200 yard Butterfly, and
Anna Baker took third, extending Oswego's lead.

Alexia Lemus took first, second, and fourth respectively in the 50 yard freestyle, bolstering Oswego's lead going into the first break.
Serena Bardin won 1-meter diving with a score of 224.00 and took fourth in 3-meter, scoring 200.10. Along with that,
Amber Burke took fifth in 1-meter, scoring 151.90

Katherine Burch took first, second, and fifth respectively in the 100 yard freestyle, further building up Oswego's lead.
Izzy Dague won the 200 yard backstroke, with
Fion Hon finishing third, once again extending Oswego's lead.
The lead began to dwindle during the 200 yard breaststroke, as
Emily Lotito and
Kaitlin Wheeler took fourth and fifth, allowing Cortland to get back into the meet.
Bella McDonald and
Emily Seldin finished first and second in the 500 yard freestyle, keeping Oswego's lead as large as possible going into the last few events.
Katherine Burch and
Anna Baker finished fourth and fifth in the 100 yard butterfly, giving Cortland a slight edge heading into the 400 IM.
In the 400 IM, Izzy Dague took first, and Bella McDonald came fourth, meaning the Lakers needed to win the 200 freestyle relay to have a chance at victory.
The Lakers did exactly that in the final event, taking first, and earning a tie in this exhilarating conference matchup.

The Oswego State Lakers will travel North to SUNY Potsdam to take on the Bears next Saturday, February first, at 1PM.
