HOW IT HAPPENED
The Oswego State Lakers and New Paltz Hawks were at a stalemate throughout much of the 1st half. Major contributions from Giavanna White- Principio and
Macey DeOrdio kept the Laker's offense afloat. The two combined for 19 out of the 29 first-half points scored. Oswego's defense was able to muster 15 steals on the night, resulting in many fast-break opportunities for the Lakers. The Lakers trailed by 1 point heading into halftime.
The Lakers were able to make halftime adjustments, which resulted in shutting down the Hawks' offense and creating many interior looks offensively. The defensive stops resulted in quick baskets for the Lakers in the 3rd quarter where they outscored New Paltz by 8 points (19-11). The same recipe for the 3rd quarter held for the 4th as the Lakers cruised to a 65-54 victory. The Oswego State Lakers relied heavily on their starters, as all five starters recorded 30+ minutes. Giavanna White- Principio led the Lakers with a game-high 25 points and 15 rebounds in a double-double effort.
