HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers faced another tough test, this time in the form of the Panthers from Middlebury College. Early in this game, the Lakers got the best of the Panthers with their offensive execution. This led to easy lay-ups for
Shania Iglesias and
Giavanna White-Principio. On defense, Oswego was able to secure multiple defensive rebounds limiting the Panthers to just one opportunity on offense. Free throws from
Logan Nyemchek helped the Lakers take an 18-15 lead after one quarter.
In the second, the Panthers were able to out-pace the offense of Oswego testing the resilience of the Lakers. The two teams battled back and forth but Middlebury secured a small two-point lead on a buzzer beating three heading into half time.
A deflating start to the third quarter led to the Lakers being down 6 before Iglesias tied the game at 42 with a lay-up. Unfortunately, the rest of the quarter was all Panthers, and they earned an 11-point lead heading into the fourth after the Lakers scored just 9 points in the quarter. In the fourth, there were more offensive struggles for the Lakers who only mustered 6 points falling at home the Middlebury by a score of 66-49.
