SUNY Oswego Baseball Head Coach Scott Landers Inducted into Cortland Legends Baseball Club

OSWEGO, N.Y. – SUNY Oswego head baseball coach Scott Landers has been inducted into the Cortland Legends Baseball Club, recognizing his outstanding playing career and lasting contributions to the game.

A standout pitcher for SUNY Cortland from 1995–1998, Landers built an impressive résumé that solidified his place among the program's all-time greats. He appeared in 35 career games, making 25 starts, and posted a 16-9 record with a 3.57 ERA and 128 strikeouts across 161.1 innings. At the time of his graduation, Landers ranked fifth in career wins and eighth in strikeouts in program history and still remains in the top 30 in both categories.

Landers' junior season in 1997 was particularly remarkable. He compiled a 7-3 record with a 2.45 ERA, striking out 47 batters while allowing just 40 hits in 66 innings of work. That season he earned Third Team ABCA All-America, First Team All-Region and First Team All-SUNYAC honors, while also being named to the NCAA Division III New York Regional All-Tournament Team—a recognition he achieved again in 1998.

Landers played a key role in Cortland's success on the national stage. He secured victories over RPI in both the 1997 and 1998 NCAA regionals, including a complete-game gem in 1997 where he allowed just one run over nine innings. He also shut down Ithaca on the road during the 1995 NCAA regional, helping propel Cortland to the College World Series. Over his career, the Red Dragons advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series three times (1995, 1997, 1998), were regional finalists in 1996, and claimed SUNYAC championships in 1995, 1997 and 1998.

Landers' induction into the Cortland Legends Baseball Club adds to an already distinguished baseball career that has spanned decades, including his leadership at the helm of the Oswego Lakers baseball program.

Coach Landers was inducted on Saturday September 27th at the Lynne Parks '68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House.
