Binghamton, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team left everything on the court in the opening round of the SUNYAC Tournament, narrowly falling 4-3 to Cortland in a back-and-forth match at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened:
The Lakers came out strong in doubles play, securing the crucial early point with dominant performances at the top and bottom of the lineup. The No. 1 duo of
Emily DeLuca and
Leah Bell earned a 6-4 victory, while
Avery Borman and
Ashlyn Feneck cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 pairing of
Isabella Eason and
Kate Hayes held a 5-3 lead before their match went unfinished as Oswego clinched the doubles point.
In singles, the Lakers continued to battle across all six courts. DeLuca picked up a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-0), and Eason followed suit with a commanding win at No. 4 (7-5, 6-0), putting Oswego ahead 3-2 at one stage of the match.
However, Cortland rallied late with wins at the top and bottom of the lineup to edge out the Lakers and advance to the next round.
What's Next:
The Lakers will return home to face Daemen University on Sunday October 19
th.
