Oneonta: 1 (11-7, 1-1 SUNYAC)
Location: Oswego, NY | Max Ziel Gymnasium
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set of the match was a valiant comeback for the Lakers, as they faced multiple deficits of five or more points, down 6-0, 9-4, 18-11 throughout the set. However, crucial kills by sophomore
Priscilla McReynolds and senior
Kalley Vugteveen gave the Lakers the lead 23-22. Vugteveen took the set into her own hands with a kill and a service ace to secure the first set victory for Oswego.
Another very competitive second set led to more of the same, as the Lakers jumped out to a quick 8-1 lead thanks to four service aces, two by sophomore
Mya Bush and senior
Gabriella Bishop. Oneonta made it a close set with a long run of points to even the score at 13-13, but clutch play by the Lakers allowed them to retain their advantage and close out the set 25-21.
After Oneonta took the third set in competitive fashion 25-19, a 40.5% hitting percentage from prolific attackers
Priscilla McReynolds, junior
Grace Gdovin, and sophomore
Gigi Basile finished off the Red Dragons 25-18.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers remain at home on Tuesday as they hope to continue their winning ways against Nazareth University, which is set to begin at 6:00 PM.
