CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's soccer team put together a gritty performance on the road Wednesday night, challenging nationally ranked No. 13 Cortland before ultimately falling 1-0 at Holloway Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers held their own against one of the premier programs in the nation, matching the Red Dragons in intensity and defensive organization throughout the contest. Despite being outshot 22–10, Oswego created quality scoring chances, particularly in the second half, but were unable to find the equalizer.

Junior goalkeeper Kyle Rose anchored the Lakers' defensive effort with a standout performance, recording nine saves against a relentless Cortland attack. His composure kept Oswego within striking distance for all 90 minutes.

Offensively, Tajay Ellis led the charge with four shots—three of which were on target, testing the Red Dragon keeper early and often. Ryan Bullis and Edis Omerovic also contributed shots on goal, as Oswego pushed for opportunities down the stretch.

Cortland broke through in the 22nd minute with what would stand as the game's lone goal—a curling shot from the top of the box by Owen Brant. From there, Oswego's defense tightened up, limiting high-danger looks while pressing forward in search of an equalizer.

The Lakers will continue their stretch of road games and head to SUNY New Paltz this Saturday, the 11th, for a 1:00 PM game against the Hawks.
