Lakers Deliver White Out Win to the Home Crowd in Dramatic Fashion

OSWEGO, N.Y. — In front of a roaring White Out crowd at the Deborah F. Stanley Arena, Oswego State delivered one of the most dramatic finishes the rivalry has ever seen—scoring with 1 second left to stun Plattsburgh, 3–2, and keep the White Out magic alive.

The Basics
Oswego - 3 (3-0-0, 1-0-0 SUNYAC)
Plattsburgh – 2 (2-1-0, 0-1-0 SUNYAC)
Deborah F Stanley Arena, Oswego, NY

How It Happened
Plattsburgh struck early, capitalizing just 68 seconds into the game to grab a 1–0 lead. The Lakers generated pressure throughout the first two periods—outshooting the Cardinals 16–8 in the second—but couldn't solve Plattsburgh goaltender Dominik Bovan before intermission.
Oswego surged out of the locker room in the third  with urgency, and at 1:57, Jesse Horacek buried the Lakers' first goal of the night, finishing a feed from Nico Paone to ignite the home crowd. Just 1:15 later, the building erupted again as Brandon Cohen cleaned up a rebound—set up by Travis Baker—to give Oswego a 2–1 lead.

Plattsburgh pushed back, tying the game midway through the period, but Oswego refused to let the night slip away.

With overtime looming and the rivalry tension at its peak, the Lakers launched one final offensive push. As the buzzer approached, McQuade fired the puck toward the crease, and Travis Baker slammed home the game-winning goal with  a second remaining, sending the White Out crowd into absolute chaos.

Goaltender Gavin McCarthy was steady all night, finishing with 21 saves to help anchor the comeback. The Lakers also dominated the faceoff circle, winning 41 draws compared to Plattsburgh's 26—an edge that helped fuel their third-period surge.

What's Next
Tomorrow night the Lakers will host Skidmore for another SUNYAC Game but will also hold a jersey retirement ceremony for # Pete Sears.
