Oswego, NY – The Oswego Lakers men's ice hockey team has officially partnered with Team IMPACT for the 2025–26 season, welcoming 9-year-old David from Baldwinsville, NY, as the newest and youngest member of the program. Team IMPACT's unique multiyear model pairs children facing serious illness or disability with college athletic teams across the nation, creating meaningful bonds built on belonging, empowerment, and resilience. Their vision is simple yet powerful: every child supported, every team strengthened, and everyone winning together.
For the Lakers, David couldn't be a more perfect fit. A passionate hockey fan with a bright personality and a love for PAW Patrol, he instantly connected with the team. His sense of humor, energy, and outgoing spirit brought immediate positivity to the locker room and quickly made him a teammate everyone was excited to welcome.
David's signing day was a special moment for both him and the program. Joined by his mother (an Oswego alum), his father, his sister Gabby, and his brother Chase, he proudly signed his Team IMPACT National Letter of Intent. The letter formally inducted him into Laker Athletics, outlining the pride, honor, respect, sportsmanship, and integrity that come with wearing Oswego's colors, along with the most important responsibility of all: having fun.
Head Coach Ed Gosek spoke on behalf of the team, expressing how meaningful David's addition already is to the program:
"We are thrilled to partner with Team IMPACT and welcome a valuable teammate like David into our program. His energy, spirit, and sense of humor have already brought so much positivity to our locker room, and his courage is truly an inspiration to us all. We're excited to continue building our relationship with David and his family and look forward to his involvement with our team throughout the season."
The Lakers are no strangers to community engagement, having earned the Oswego Athletics Community Service Award at the annual Ozcars ceremony in each of the past two years. Men's ice hockey becomes the second Oswego program to join Team IMPACT; Lakers baseball partnered with Team IMPACT athlete Cameron over the previous two seasons.
From this point forward, David is more than a fan, he is part of the Laker family. The team looks forward to creating unforgettable memories with him both on and off the ice.
Welcome to the family, David. Once a Laker, always a Laker.
