HOW IT HAPPENED

Oswego came out aggressive as they have all season long. So aggressive that an early penalty on the Lakers granted Canton a power play. Oswego had a scary moment right away but handled it well, killing off the power play. Just as the Roos got a power play early, the same thing happened for Oswego. Canton played it well and killed Oswego's chance to get on the board first. Oswego had eight shots on goal through the first 20. Each team would acquire another power play but similarly to the first time around, no goals were scored. It was knotted at zero after the first period.

Oswego, fighting to open the scoring, set off 7 shots in the first two minutes. They were in complete control of the puck to kick off the second period of play. It was only a matter of time, with all the control that Oswego found the back of the net. Late in the second minute, Jonathon Balah would find Brandon Cohen and Cohen put the Lakers up 1-0. It was Cohen's second goal of the young season. A little later the Lakers had another power play but the Roos killed it once again. Canton kept applying pressure by firing shots left and right but Gavin McCarthy shut down the Roos. Oswego would have another power play but Canton yet again would allow nothing. Oswego with a 1-0 lead kept the energy up but couldn't find goal number two. It stayed 1-0 in favor of the Lakers going into the locker room.

Canton right away would have a power play but like Oswego did all night, they killed it off and maintained their lead. Oswego wanted more and more, is what they got. It was Adam Grenier off the Brett Fudger feed. Oswego extended their lead to two. Just three minutes later, Oswego got some insurance and tallied another score. This time around it was Matt McQuade off the stick of Colin Vassallo. Oswego had a very comfortable lead. It was so comfortable that they were able to settle right back in and play sound defense to keep the Roos at zero for the remainder of the third period. Oswego prevailed and fought off Canton winning 3-0.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will travel to the Maxcy Ice Arena to battle the 3-3 Potsdam Bears. Historically, Oswego plays Potsdam very well with an all time record of 80 wins, 29 losses and 4 times. Faceoff for tomorrow is set for 4:00pm.
