Lakers Surge to Victory with Dominant All-Around Performance Against HWS

Oswego, NY – The SUNY Oswego Lakers delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, overpowering Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

How It Happened
From the opening event, Oswego set the tone with a decisive win in the men's 200 medley relay, where the A-team of Jayden Hernandez, Aidan Caples, Tommy Purga, and Jackson Vignona clocked a swift 1:47.39. The women's A relay followed suit, with Izzy Dague, Aurora Jarvie, Joscelyn Coniski, and Katherine Burch combining for a 1:58.33 finish to secure first place.

Antonio Medina emerged as a dominant force for the Lakers, claiming victories in the 200 freestyle (1:52.25) and the 500 freestyle (5:19.02), while anchoring the men's 200 free relay to another top finish. On the women's side, senior Jayna Laferriere was unstoppable, winning the 50-yard freestyle (25.63), 100 freestyle (55.75), and leading the 200 free relay team to victory. In distance events, Nathan Ratta Vine and Emily Seldin showcased endurance and consistency, winning the men's and women's 1000 freestyle respectively.

Backstroke specialist Jayden Hernandez swept both the 100 (57.25) and 200 (2:11.24) events, while Peter Jennings edged out HWS's Christopher Woody in a thrilling 100 breaststroke finish by just one-hundredth of a second. The women's breaststroke events were equally impressive, with Jarvie and Emily Lotito going 1–2 in both the 100 and 200 distances.

Oswego's depth was on full display in the butterfly events, where Mitchell Stevens took the men's 200 fly in 2:04.10, and Anna Baker led a strong showing in the women's 200 fly, finishing third behind two HWS swimmers. In diving, Finian Dolaway secured first place in the men's 1-meter event with a score of 143.25, adding valuable points to Oswego's tally.

What's Next
Next Saturday the two teams will head to Fredonia for another SUNYAC meet in Dunkirk, NY starting at 1:00 PM
