Lakers Pick Up Big Home Confernece Win

OSWEGO NY - The Cardinals of Plattsburgh fly into a snowy sight in Oswego and try to lighten up the drowsy day with a road win. But ultimately the 2-headed monster of Macey DeOrdio and Sydney Hoeffs rain on the road trip parade.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego started this big conference matchup off with a bang. Macey DeOrdio was hot as ever as she had 2 threes in the first 3 minutes. Just like that Oswego was out to a big lead early, 10-2. Plattsburgh trying to answer would get a put back to go but a 3 from Oswego's star, Shania Iglesias would quickly put that momentum from the Cardinals down the drain. Every single bucket from Plattsburgh was answered by the Lakers. At 2:04 left in the 1st, Sophomore Guard for the Cardinals, Julia Greek would get a triple to go but right in her face when she turned around to play defense was Iglesias. Time and time again Iglesias has come up big for the Lakers team all year. She puts that on display once again in the first. It was 19-9, Oswego over Plattsburgh after 10.

Much of the same for Oswego to start the 2nd, DeOrdio and Iglesias were on an absolute heater. Back and forth these teams were going, no one could close the gap or pull away. Whenever Plattsburgh scored, the Lakers would do the same. You could tell that in the intermission both coaches were not happy about the defensive side of the ball as the women, on both sides, were much more aggressive on defense. The lead for Oswego was stubborn to end the first half. They led 33-22.
DeOrdio was the game's leading scorer with 13. Iglesias also had 9 for the Lakers. For Plattsburgh, Imani Walcott had 8. Greek tacked on 6 for the Cardinals.

It was the same people who started the 3rd. DeOrdio and Iglesias kept things going. Sydney Hoefs got a 3 to go. Things were just working for this Laker team. Walcott and Greek were doing everything they can to help their team, but Oswego just wouldn't go away. Free throws were big for the Lakers midway through the 3rd. They were getting to the charity stripe and cashing in. Hoefs for the Lakers put her foot on the gas late in the 3th, as she had 7 points. The score, being less stubborn this time around, has Oswego leading by 13 going into the 4th.

Payton Couture, the senior, had 6 straight points early in the 4th for the Cardinals but Oswego was hanging around. Plattsburgh, needing to make a big push in the 4th, and finally ended up doing so. Couture kept things going with a big three all the sudden the Cardinals were back in this one. She had 9 at this point. The Cardinals were within 5 with about 60 seconds to go. DeOrdio would go 1 for 2 from the line and Plattsburgh took a time out to draw up an ATO. Greek would miss a pull-up jumper and after Tanenblatt went 2-2 from the line, Oswego would prevail and big up the win 67-55

Macey DeOrdio was the game's leading scorer as she finished with a 21/3/7 stat line. Sydney Hoefs also had a season high with 17 points. She also grabbed 9 boards.
