HOW IT HAPPENED
The Oswego Lakers had a blistering start to the game as they outscored the Bears 19-8 in the first quarter.
Shania Iglesias gave the Lakers an early 6-0 lead as she poured in two pointers. Throughout much of the first half, the Lakers were able to get out in transition, disrupting the Potsdam defense. The Lakers led by 11, going into the halftime break.
As the 2nd half got underway, Potsdam switched into a 2-3 zone defensively, which proved to be much more effective as the Laker's lead dwindled. Potsdam's Jenna Cotter gave the Oswego defense trouble as she was able to find many scoring opportunities in the paint. Cotter would eventually end the game with a game-high 29 points. Despite Cotter's efforts, it was the Lakers' timely baskets that were able to bring them through the finish line as they took down the Potsdam Bears 62-57, in an exciting back and forth. Free throws from
Sydney Hoefs would put the game on ice as she gave the Lakers a 5-point lead with 6 seconds left. Hoefs would finish with 16 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds.
