HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers came out with a cannon to start this matchup. Oswego scored 10 unanswered points in the first 4 and a half minutes. Giavanna White-Principio had 6 to start this one. She was an absolute menace in the paint. Cortland had no answer for her. Cortland was turning the ball over frequently and this led to a lot of Oswego fast breaks. They capitalized on them and kept the lead at around 10 in the final minutes of the first. White-Principio kept her scoring going as she finished with 10 in the first quarter. Oswego was dominant, to say the least.

The tables turned in the beginning of the second quarter, Cortland came out with a different energy. After Cortland's Brooke Tillotson hit a pair of free throws, the Red Dragons were within 7. Cortland kept things pushing and after a blink of an eye, this game was a one possession contest with Oswego leading 20-23. The Red Dragons were breathing fire this whole second quarter. Their offense was just thriving on all ends. Sophie Bissaillon swished home a triple and Jackie Funk had 2 free throws and Cortland was suddenly on top. Oswego would hang around and end the quarter down 1 despite the huge quarter by Cortland.

Cortland started off with two free throws and a bucket in the 3rd. Then would come a 3-minute scoring drought for both teams. Cortland, being stubborn with the lead, would hit back-to-back triples and jump out to a quick 11-point lead in the 3rd. In an attempt to close the gap, Elaina Johnson for the Lakers would get some free throws to go but Cortland would remain on top by around 10 for much of the 3rd. Shania Iglesias as well for the Lakers would get a couple late buckets to drop but in the end of the 3rd it was all defense. There was one field goal made in the last 3 and a half minutes. Cortland was on top, 43-33 going into the last quarter of play.

Defense was still up to par to start out the fourth. That was until Shania Iglesias hit a big time three trying to get Oswego back in this one. Jackie Funk for the Red Dragons would quickly respond with a fancy finish at the rim. Oswego needed a big push to get back into this contest. As this one rolled down to the wire, both teams were on a scoring frenzy. Everything for Oswego was falling but unfortunately it was the same for Cortland. The gap wouldn't budge, and Cortland ended this one on top, 57-46.
For Oswego, Giavanna White - Principio records yet another double-double stat line with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Shania Iglesias and Macey DeOrdio chipped in 10 points each.
